VICE magazine interviews Jennifer

Vice magazine in Mexico publishes a nice interview Jennifer about her work and approach to filmmaking. The first film festival of women porn directors, Cine Y Sexo: La Mirada Femenina Conferencia, has Jennifer as a Special Guest.

Giant thanks to Vice magazine for their coverage of the first film festival of women porn directors, Cine Y Sexo: La Mirada Femenina Conferencia, where I will be a Special Guest.

I’ll be showing all my movies and giving a presentation about my work, as well as doing Q&A for each film.

In their article “Porn for women: An interview with Jennifer Lyon Bell…Movies about how good sex can be in real life,” Vice asked me about making adult cinema that women like, and about the potentially educational value of porn. But maybe the most interesting parts were our discussion about differing attitudes about porn between California (where I grew up) and Mexico. As a Catholic country, Mexico is in principle very conservative about sexuality and sexual representation in the media. In fact, we’ve been warned about potential civil unrest as a possible outcome during the festival. But the festival staff is passionate about the festival’s importance, and so very supportive. A big press event is planned where media outlets can challenge us on our beliefs.
