What an honor! Last night “Des Jours Plus Belles Que La Nuit”/”Skin.Like.Sun.,” our collaboration with Belgian artist Murielle Scherre, aka La Fille D’O, won the 2010 Feminist Porn Award for Best Direction.
The awards ceremony was held yesterday night in Toronto, Canada. The awards are hosted by female-friendly erotic retailer Good For Her and are attended by many of the best new directors and stars of alternative, feminist, and female-friendly porn and erotica. Good For Her created the unique award, and has hosted it every year since 2006.
We’re proud to be on the winner’s list of such wonderful films as Anna Brownfield’s “The Band,” Erika Lust’s “Handcuffs,” and Courtney Trouble’s “Speakeasy.”
“Des Jours” was made possible by the Stout(st)e Dromen feminist festival in Antwerp Belgium, who commissioned Jennifer and Murielle to collaborate on a feminist film. This is the very first collaboration between Jennifer and artist/DJ/author/lingerie-designer Murielle Scherre, aka La Fille D’O.
Since Jennifer and Murielle had recently begun fantasizing about a collaboration together, the festival’s proposal was kismet. Des Jours was the result. Murielle and Jennifer directed, produced, shot, and edited the film together in Gent, Belgium.
The judges’ analysis:
“Des Jours Plus Belles Que La Nuit is an homage to real, explicit love shot in real-time. Starring a young Belgian couple, the film tries to capture what sex feels like, rather than looks like. Shot with the female character’s perspective in mind, and choosing to leave in the kissing, banter, and foreplay alongside the more traditional hot elements, Des Jours Plus Belles Que La Nuit is a decidedly unusual — and touching — approach to cinematic sex.”
Special thanks to the awards judges at Good For Her, and most especially to our talented and extremely fun cast and crew: Floor Wyns & Wim van Damme (stars), Jonathan Del Piero (additional editing) and Damien Done (music). You made the film what it is!
Stay tuned for more info about how you can see the film soon.
