Jennifer to give Porn & Feminism workshop in Berlin

Posted on October 9, 2010

By Jennifer Lyon Bell

Let's explode the 6 typical misconceptions about how porn and feminism can't possibly overlap. Jennifer shows brilliant filmclips that illuminate the hidden world of feminist and alternative porn that's sexy, explicit, and super-feminist.

Along with our German premiere of “Des Jours Plus Belles Que La Nuit” (“Skin. Like. Sun.”), Jennifer will be staying at the festival to give a workshop on Porn and Feminism  on Sunday.

The workshop’s summary:

“Can porn be feminist? In this workshop, feminist-identified erotic film director Jennifer Lyon Bell of Blue Artichoke Films will introduce the idea of ‘sex-positive feminism’, then present six traditional arguments about why porn ‘cannot’ be feminist. Finally, she’ll mix it up by showing recent porn and erotica ‘counterexample’ filmclips that highlight the limitations of those traditional arguments. Open discussion and brainstorming to follow! All are welcome.”

WHAT: “Porn and Feminism” workshop
WHEN: Sunday, October 30
TIME: 4:00pm-6:00pm
WHERE: Buffet Queer Art Space, Schlesische Strasse 38-II, Backyard. Kreuzberg, Berlin.
